aveling and porter 8 ton roller no : 11956

built new on 26th september 1927 and deliverd new on the 5th of october 1927 to tanfield urban district council , the engine worked for tanfield council for a number of years before it was transferred to stanley council were it worked up untill the early 60’s when it was sold into preservation. purchased by us in january 2007 it is still under going restoration work to get it back to its former glory.

built in 1904 and sold new to g f thomlinson of city rd derby, in 1929 it went back to aveling and porter and then on to a dealer in london, then sold to barnes bros rolling contractors southwick trowbridge during whos ownership it was used in the making of the ealing studios comedy the titfield thunderbolt and was driven by sir sid james,   sold into preservation in 1962 , bought by nigel keene in 1994 who then spent many years restoring it to its now magnificent state.
